International Seminars

  1. International Seminar on Maritime Malabar and the Europeans(1500-1962) was held on Thalassery, 13-18 January 2002 in collaboration with Indian Council of Historical Research, Ministry of Human resources Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute for Asian Studies, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Kolkotta, Society for Indian Ocean Studies, New Delhi, Fundação Oriente, Goa, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon and Kannur University, Kannur. Eminent scholars from Japan, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Belgium and various parts of India presented research papers and participated in the discussion.
  2. International Seminar on Portuguese Factories, Fortresses and Settlements in India with special references to Cannanore was conducted at Kannur from 20 to 24 February 2005 in collaboration with Indian Council of Historical Research, Ministry of Human resources Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute for Asian Studies, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Kolkota, Society for Indian Ocean Studies, New Delhi, Fundação Oriente, Goa, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon, Instituto Camões, Lisbon and Kannur District Tourism Promotion Council.

  1. National Seminar on Migration in India and its Impact on Tribal Societies was held at Thalassery 27-29 October 2003 in collaboration with Indian Council of Historical Research Research, Ministry of Human resources Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute for Asian Studies, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Kolkotta and Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkotta.
  2. National Seminar on Challenges to Life in the new Millennium: Bioethical Perspective, held at Kunnoth, Kannur district, 28-30 October 2005, in collaboration with Metanexus Institute, Philadelphia. Taking into consideration the contemporary social issues in the context of the progress of science, this seminar marked a diversification in the areas of academic debate organised by IRISH.
  3. National Seminar on the Contributions of Foreigners to the Development of Malayalam Language, held at Nirmalagiri, 16-18 March 2006, in collaboration with Central Institute of South Indian Languages, Mysore and Nirmalagiri College, Kannur.
  4. Life Style Related Diseases and Their Management: A Scientific and Religious Approach for a Holistic Solution held at Thalasserry 19-21 May 2006 in collaboration with Metanexus Institute, Philadelphia, Indian Farmers Movement and Dr. Rajasekhar Diabetes Care & Research Foundation, Thalasserry.
  5. Regional Seminar on Socio-Economic Conditions of Tribal Community in Malabar in collaboration with Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkota. This was held at Nirmalagiri College on 11 and 12 March 2004.
